In Zentrum steht das Projekt, das die Künstlerin, die in Oldenburg, Geburtstadt von Karl Jaspers, lebt, dem Philosophen und seiner Freundin Hannah Arendt gewidmet hat.  
In dem Video „Frei wie ein Blatt im Wind“, das Eugenia Gortchakova 2006 während eines Stipendium-Aufenthalts in New York zum Briefwechsel Jaspers –Arendt aufgenommen hat, ist Zeit ein Hauptthema. Sie strukturiert die Folge der Bildsequenzen entsprechend dem Rhythmus der Korrespondenz. Während der Arbeit traf sie den Kreis von Hannah Arendt Freunden, wie Jerry Kohn, Lotte Köhler und Elisabeth Young-Bruehl. Sie kommen in dem Video zur Sprache, das Leben in New York und Gedanken von Hannah Arendt und Karl Jaspers auf metaphorische Weise darstellt.
Was die Künstlerin an Arendt und Jaspers faszinierte, war ihre Haltung, Arbeit und Denken als Form des Lebens zu betrachten.  Ihre Lebenszeit materialisiert Eugenia Gortchakova Augenblick für Augenblick in Strichfolgen ihrer Bilder. Das Gefühl für Zeit und deren Wert bewusst zu halten, ist das Ziel. Wiederholung und Veränderung, „Denken nur im Dialog mit mir selbst“ (H.A.), die Wichtigkeit der Kommunikation für Wahrheit und Existenz, Motive wie das Meer als Metapher für Endlosigkeit sind Inhalte ihrer Kunst. Selbstreflexion und Erkenntnis setzen dem Bewusstsein des Endes etwas Bleibendes entgegen. Im Vordergrund steht dabei der Prozess des Suchens nach dem Menschsein in Bezug auf existentielle Grenzen.

The project questions a concept of identity. Is it true, that we are divided into social, religious, gender, national or professional groups or these barriers are no longer relevant in a global world? The philosophical aspect, which interprets identity as a relation between “Me” and ”the other in me“, shifts the identity problem inwards (as for example the dialogical identity of Bakhtin or „relational identity“ of Glissant, or identity as an “I-you” connection by Flüsser).
Under a strange hat a person experiences oneself as stranger. People from all continents (workshops in Russia, India, Tunisia, Poland and Germany) were invited to put a strange headgear. We have filmed their reactions from 3 perspectives:
1.“Moment“ (6:07): the eyes of a participant were closed. A strange headgear was put on and a camera placed behind a spy mirror filmed the moment when a participant opened the eyes.
2.“Inter-view“ (34:36): reflections of a participant in a strange hat.
3.“Movement“(3:28): in movement of the body and gestures «my appearance, visible and existing only for the other, merges with my own inner felt activity“. (M.Bakhtin)
